The Texas Historical Foundation grant program was organized to:
- Support projects and activities in education, research, archeology, and the preservation of Texas history.
- Sponsor publications and materials relating to Texas history.
- Encourage activities promoting Texas traditions, values, and patriotic events.
- Collaborate with state, regional, and local historical groups in strengthening preservation endeavors.Communicate to the general public the unique role and function of the Texas Historical Foundation.

The Foundation also gives out preservation grants that help organizations around the state save their own special pieces of our Texas past. These preservation projects are just some of the ones that the members of THF have supported with grants.
